Genesis Chapter 11 records the account of the Tower of Babel and the generations leading to Abram.
The whole earth had one language and the same words. The people settled in the land of Shinar and said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens.” The Lord came down to see the city and the tower. He confused their language so they could not understand one another’s speech and scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth. The chapter then lists the generations from Shem to Terah and the birth of Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
